Nayarit has been a center for tobacco production in Mexico and many indigeous people, the Cora and Huichol worked tobacco production.
Tobacco is traditionally used as an entheogen among Indigenous peoples of the western hemisphere; it is a stimulant and the smoke was used in enemas to revive unconscious people by Indians of the Americas.
People in Cabo Corrientes use a steam made to treat bronchitis: mix garlic, gordolobo cinnamon, bougainvillea tract and tobacco flower. Tobacco is very hot and bronchitis is very cold.
For rheumatic (reuma) pain, cook the tobacco. Place the tobacco in alcohol to ferment for a month and then it is ready as a liniment to apply. Burning Tobacco is also used to smoke out insects, wasps etc.
Some compounds occurring in tobacco plants may find therapeutic use. Epidemiological data has shown that tobacco smokers— while way more likely to get cancer, heart disease, stroke, and more—are actually less likely to develop Parkinson’s disease. Further, one study found that monkeys suffering from dyskinetic movements—involuntary movements common in Parkinson’s —experienced a 60 to 70 percent reduction in movements when treated with nicotine-laced water.
